As Term 2 draws to a close, there is much to celebrate and appreciate within our vibrant Marian College community. The richness of our programs and the wide range of opportunities offered throughout the term reflect our strong commitment to nurturing faith, learning, and growth in every student.
We began the Term with our Staff Two-Day Conference, centred on the theme Building on a Culture to Improve Staff Wellbeing and Learning Practices. Over the two days, staff engaged in rich professional learning that explored how a positive culture can enhance wellbeing at the College, and as individuals. Sessions included strategies for fostering a healthy school culture, understanding the neuroscience behind a growth mindset, and implementing practical approaches to support learning diversity. These insights support our continued commitment to creating an inclusive environment where both students and staff can thrive.
As I look back on Term 2, it’s been inspiring to see students across the College engaging wholeheartedly in their learning. Year 10 and 11 students recently completed exams, the Vocational Major students attended work experience placements, Years 7 and 8 finalised major assessment tasks, and our Unit 3 & 4 students sat the General Achievement Test (GAT). The exam and assessment experience offers valuable opportunities for our students to develop confidence, self-discipline, and effective learning habits that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
As we come to the end of the term, we prepare to farewell a few staff members who are moving on to new opportunities and experiences. I thank each of them for their contribution to the life of our College and for the care and commitment they have shown in their roles. We wish them every success and happiness in the journey ahead.
Nhu Tran (Teacher)
Hollie Whilcock (Teacher)
Anthony Nguid (Maintenance Officer)
A special farewell to Bernadette Casey, our Assistant Principal Fatih & Mission, who has been an inspiring presence at Marian, living out the values of Kildare Education Ministries and the Brigidine tradition. Her impact on our students, staff, and wider community has been significant, and we’re so grateful for everything she has brought to the life of the College. We wish her every blessing as she begins the next chapter of her journey.
